Holiday Parade of Boats - Charleston, SC

Although we’re back in South Carolina, the blogging continues……..

The Charleston Harbor

On Saturday, December 2nd, our team had our first reunion (unfortunately Ruben couldn’t make it.) We met in Charleston and participated in the Charleston Harbor Holiday Parade of Boats. Luckily my parents offered to host us on their 41’ Trawler. The boat was decorated in holiday lights, but sadly we didn’t win an award for the best decorated boat. (There’s always next year!)

We met at my house at 2:30 to share our pictures with one another. For those of you that remember, our plan was to share all of our pictures from the trip. We probably have close to 5,000 pictures between all of us. I think it’s safe to say that we’re all behind in developing our favorite pictures. It’s just so hard to choose the best ones out of so many! We then headed to the boat with enough food to feed us for the next couple of weeks – literally! We couldn’t have asked for better weather, clear blue skies and a full moon by the end of the evening. It wasn’t even too cold. It was great to be back with the team, although it seemed weird to be sailing through the waters off of Charleston instead of the harbor of Cardiff! We sang Christmas songs to the crowds as we boated by and got lots of cheers as we yelled ‘Merry Christmas.’ It truly was a remarkable evening and one of the highlights was the fireworks over the water at the end of the night. Although I’ve been told they paled in comparison to the Guy Fawkes fireworks, they were still amazing! (Richard and I missed seeing them in Cardiff.) Hopefully the parade of boats will become an annual reunion for our team.

I hope everyone is doing well, both in South Carolina and, of course, in Wales.

Happy Holidays!
