District Conference Weekend and on to the Brecons

You have not heard from us in a couple of days because we have been busy with the District 1150 Conference in Plymouth. As always, our schedule was tight and we did not have internet access, but you should all get to see plenty of photos soon. We all traveled seperately from Haverfordwest to Plymouth on Friday afternoon (a 5-6 hour drive). We met up with members of the Morriston and Swansea Bay clubs that we had seen the first week who promised to help us with costumes for the Carribean Night Party later that evening. All I can say is look for the photos. We had a great time as you will see. Thanks to Gwenda, Liz, Stuart, and Russell for providing us with shirts, dredlocks, flowers, and sarongs on Friday and bowties for Saturday's formal. We were told that the presentation on Saturday went well. It was a very different experience from speaking to joint club meetings. There were between 400-500 Rotarians at the District Conference but they all made us feel like family. It was nice to see so many familiar faces at the conference from our first two weeks of travel. We are now up in the Norteast part of the District, in and around the Brecon Beacons. Again, the scenery is amazing and our new hosts seem eager to show us their part of Wales. Unlike Haverfordwest where we all lived very near one another, we are spread out this week. Some of us are nearly 40 miles apart. I am in Brecon, a town of ~ 8,000 people with Andrew Wakely and his wife Vimka. They own a bookshop/art gallery in the center of town in a great building that doubles as their residence. It looks like the next week will be chocked full of things to do. Look for updates and photos soon.

Our leader down for the count at dinner with the Morriston dinner before Caribbean Night. Looks incriminating but it's not what you think.

Holy Cow! I can't believe that is Rick in the Rosta Hat! Why does he look so happy? I think the metamorphose has begun... finally.
