Leaving our Second Zone Today!!!

Last night, we went to Cardigan for a joint Rotary meeting with the Cardigan Club, Haverfordwest, Aberaron, Aberystwyth and representatives from other Rotary Clubs in this zone. It was great to walk into a room and know lots of the Rotarians and see some of the wonderful folks who escorted us around the last 4 days. This week has been great as we have seen and done some fantastic things, had 2 vocational days each but had time to rest and the team to do things together. It was perfect week after the fabulous, fast and furious pace of the first week. We gave our 3rd presentation and everybody was right on energized by being with our new friends who we also will see a lot of at the District Conference. The favorite question of the team to be asked now. " How about telling us about your State Dance?"

On the way to Cardigan, we traveled around winding roads up and over hills as we rose to over a 1000 feet in elevation. It was again great scenery and then we rounded a curve and got to experience a herd of sheep in the middle of the road being transferred to another field. It was great watching the Sheep Farmer, his dogs try and then succeed in getting about a 100 plus sheep heading in the right direction. Would you believe we didn't have a camera to take a shot we have been wanting to see as we have seen sheep grazing all over Wales. On the was back home, our host Stuart Watts took us on our adventure traveling back over the hills in the fog. Sometimes it was so thick it would seem like the road would disappear and would seem like eternity until it came back into focus. Stuart used to have Rally Races on the rhhis road years ago in a Lotus Cortina and knew them like the back of his hand and we arrived back into Haverford West without a problem. Even Ruben was a little nervous in the backseat. We then finished the night with everybody joining our host families and the team at Malcolm an Janet's house for tea and drinks and got to sample some of her delicious sponge cake. We finally got to see the video of Ruben being tased by his taser but without the sound. Ruben said it was something wrong with the program but I think he just didn't want us to hear screaming like a little girl. He has been promising us this since about halfway thru training. Well it's about time to head 'em up and move 'em out and head toward Plymouth, Thanks to AG Tony Park, Richard Morgan and all the great Rotarians in Zone 1 for another fantastic week in Wales....Rick
